A protest in Dublin in support of Palestine has heard calls Palestinians to be given the same legal status in Ireland as Ukrainians and be treated as EU citizens.

Gary Daly, a solicitor who is a member of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign, told the rally the Government must invoke international law to prosecute Israel for genocide.

He said Palestinians constitute a national group for the purposes of the convention on genocide, and said that Israel is committing genocide by targeting civilians.

Thousands took to the streets of Dublin today for the march which has now taken place for the ninth Saturday in a row.

The crowd heard from speakers on Molesworth Street, outside Leinster house.

Political representatives, trade unions, students, and community groups from all over the country took part.

Some staged a 'die-in' outside Leinster House

Chants could be heard calling for a ceasefire in Gaza as well as the expulsion of the Israeli Ambassador to Ireland.

Afterwards, some staged a 'die-in' outside Leinster House in solidarity with civilians who have been killed in Gaza and the West Bank.

A similar 'die-in' protest was held outside Cork City Hall today.

The Cork Palestine Solidarity Campaign said it wants city councillors to pressure the Government to work towards ending the war.
