The National Lottery has appealed for Lotto players in Co Monaghan to check old tickets from a draw held on 19 August, as a prize worth over €1 million remains unclaimed two months on.

The winning ticket – worth a total of €1,000,500 - was sold at Centra on Main Street in Emyvale on Friday 17 August.

The money was won in the Lotto Plus Raffle, which organisers say typically sees as many as 120 people win €500.

However, in this particular draw, one player won far in excess of this due to a special raffle event.

Each ticket with the winning Lotto Plus Raffle number drawn in the Saturday 19 August draw were entered into a "once-off random draw", where one ticket was selected to win an additional €1m.

The winning raffle number for that draw was 3249.

Winning ticketholders have 90 days from the draw date to claim their prize, meaning that the deadline to claim the money is Friday 17 November.
