An investigation is under way after the body of a man in his 60s was found in a house in Limerick city.

It is believed the body may have been in the house, on the Old Cratloe Road on the western side of Limerick, for some time.

The body of the man was found at about 8.30am yesterday morning and removed to University Hospital Limerick.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted which will influence the course of the investigation.

The scene has been preserved to allow for a forensic examination by members of the Garda Technical Bureau.
