A man has been killed in a road crash between a van and a car in Co Tipperary.

The collision happened on the N24 between Kilsheelan and Carrick-on-Suir, in the Ballindine area, at around 1.20pm.

The driver of a van, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to the mortuary at Tipperary University Hospital.

A woman in her 40s who was driving the car was seriously injured and is being treated at University Hospital Waterford.

The road has been closed to allow a forensic examination to take place and diversions are in place.
