Army attends after explosive device found in Co Dublin

An army bomb disposal team have dealt with an historical explosive device that was discovered in Co Dublin this afternoon.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was alerted by gardaí after a historical munition was found by construction workers who were carrying out renovations on a house in the Foxrock area at around 1pm.

A scene was sealed off, and officers successfully managed to countermine the device.

A spokesperson for the Defence Forces said that the operation has now concluded and they have left the scene.
