A man in his 30s is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted in Galway city.
The incident happened at around 2.30am on Dominick Street.
The man was brought to University Hospital Galway and was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
Gardaí are appealing for information.
Any road users who have camera footage and were travelling around the Dominic Street area between 2am and 2.45am are asked to make it available to gardaí.
