A small family shop in north Dublin is celebrating after selling Saturday's €3.9m Lotto ticket.
The owner of Pinewood Stores in a housing estate in Balbriggan found out last night that the quick pick ticket had been sold there.
David Fitzgibbon, who has run Pinewood Stores for the past 17 years, said he could not believe the news when he heard it.
"I was excited, I didn’t believe him at first," he said.
Mr Fitzgibbon believes someone local bought the ticket and said there has been a lot of speculation.
"The store is situated in the heart of a local community here in Balbriggan so it’s lovely to think that one of our regulars may have had a huge win over the weekend," he said.
The National Lottery has confirmed that the winner has made contact and arrangements are now being made for them to claim their life-changing prize.
Fran Whearty of the National lottery said the winning ticket is a syndicate.
"We got a call late last night from the winning syndicate, they confirmed they had the winning ticket with their barcode at the bottom," he said.
Mr Whearty added that the syndicate was told to get some advice and then claim the prize.
"We’ll be ready and waiting at Lotto HQ on Abbey Street," he said.
