Gardaí in Donegal have renewed an appeal for information in relation to an alleged assault reported to have happened in the Sliabh Liag/Killbegs area last weekend.

The Sliabh Liag cliffs had been closed to the public all week to facilitate searches in the investigation into the alleged assault which is said to have happened between Saturday 24 June and Sunday 25 June.

Access to the popular cliffs, viewing area and walking trails is now fully open to the public.

Gardaí say they are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the alleged serious assault and an incident room is based in Ballyshannon Garda Station under the direction of a senior investigating officer.

They are appealing to anyone travelling the Killybegs and Sliabh Liag areas from last Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening who saw any activity which drew their attention to contact them and ask that anyone with camera footage including dash-cam footage from the area to make it available to them.
