A planning application for what will be the largest residential development in Cork city centre to date is set to be lodged with Cork City Council.

Developers Leeside Quays Ltd (a subsidiary of O'Callaghan Properties) is proposing to build some 1,325 apartments and duplexes at the former Goulding's site in Cork's docklands.

The multi-million euro development will include 658 one-bed units, 465 two-bed units and 202 three-bed units in ten buildings ranging in height from two to 14 storeys over a single basement.

The proposal includes over 25,000sq/m of public open space, with cafes/restaurants, as well as service and retail stores at ground floor level.

A stand alone two-storey crèche is also proposed.

Pedestrian and cycle links as well as road crossings, public lighting and a mobility hub on the Centre Park Road will form part of the Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) application.

O'Callaghan Properties MD Brian O'Callaghan said the project will be "an exemplar for the 15-minute city concept".

"Cork City Docklands is recognised as having a key national economic development role," Mr O'Callaghan said.

"Thousands of jobs have already been created in Docklands and it is imperative that residential development runs parallel, otherwise investment momentum will be impacted."
