Cyclist seriously injured following crash in Co Mayo

A cyclist has been seriously injured following a road crash in Co Mayo.

The incident, between a car and a bike, happened on the N84 in Ballyhean at around 12pm yesterday.

The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment.

No one else was injured.

The road was closed while a technical examination took place but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly anyone who may have seen a lone cyclist on surrounding roads in the Ballyhean area between 11.30am and 12.15pm or anyone with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area.
