A man in his 80s has died following a collision between a car and pedestrian in Drogheda, Co Louth this afternoon.

The incident happened at the junction of West St and Dominic St at around 2.30pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.

The scene is being preserved for a technical examination to be carried out and traffic diversions are in place.
