A 38-year-old man has been remanded in custody after he was charged with the manslaughter and robbery of a man who died after being fatally assaulted in Finglas, Dublin in January.
Peter White, with a last known address at Casement Drive in Finglas, was brought before Blanchardstown District Court after having been earlier arrested at Finglas Garda station.
His barrister Sandra Frayne BL said her client was not alleged to have been in possession of a knife, when a row broke out at a property on Collins Avenue in Finglas on 13 January.
The victim, 39-year-old Brian Hogan who went to that address was found in a laneway near the property having suffered fatal stab wounds.
Garda Kevin Sayers who gave evidence of arrest and charge said another man not before the court today was alleged to have been in possession of a large kitchen knife believed to have caused those injuries.
He said Mr White was alleged to have punched and later kicked the victim as he lay helpless on the ground, after he was dragged from the house.
Judge Ciaran Liddy remanded Mr White in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court next week.
