A man in his 40s has died in a road traffic collision in Co Cavan.
The collision between a car and a parked truck happened at around 11.30am this morning on the R178 at Carrickgorman in Bailieborough.
The man was the driver and sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has since been removed to Cavan General Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
The road is currently closed with local diversions in place.
Forensic collision investigators are currently carrying out their examinations of the scene.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to contact Bailieborough Garda Station.
It follows a fatal collision at New Inns, Ballyjamesduff last evening in which a man in his 20s died.
