Gardaí in Galway are appealing for witnesses following two incidents in the county, in the early hours of this morning.

Shots were fired at a residence in the Ballydavid area of Athenry, causing damage to the property, at around half past midnight. No injuries were reported.

Less than two hours later, a silver Ford S-Max car was found burned out on the outskirts of Maigh Cuilinn. It was found at 2.15am on an approach road to the village.

Detectives investigating the incidents have asked anyone with information, who was in either vicinity at the times in question, to come forward.
