Community gardaí in Drogheda have completed a four peaks challenge to raise money for a children's charity.

Eight climbers summited the highest peak in each province in four days to raise nearly €6,000 for the Little Blue Heroes Foundation.

The charity was set up in 2017 and provides practical and financial assistance to families of children with serious illness in Ireland.

Little Blue Heroes also grants children their wish of becoming honorary gardaí, which includes a ceremony, getting a full garda uniform, badges and tours of garda stations.

The eight gardaí left from Drogheda Garda Station last week before climbing Lugnaquilla in Wicklow, Carrauntoohil in Kerry, Mweelrea in Mayo and Slieve Donard in Down.
