Ten new jobs will be created at Monaghan heavy lift equipment manufacturer Megalift this year.

The announcement will double the workforce at the company.

It is part of a significant expansion which will see the development of a new 2,800 square metre facility in Ballinode, alongside its existing base.

Construction is expected to begin in June.

The new roles will be created in the next 12 months and include fabricators, fitters, and engineers.

Megalift says the roles will help strengthen employment in the local area.

Megalift Ltd designs and manufactures heavy lift equipment for the transport and logistics industry and exports to more than 30 countries worldwide.

Megalift Managing Director Meredith Hall said the company has grown from strength to strength since it started in 2017 and the expansion "reaffirms" its commitment to the industry.

The company is supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Alan Hobbs, Department Manager for Industrial and Life Sciences, HPSU, at Enterprise Ireland, said: "Supporting Irish-owned companies to achieve greater scale and expand their global footprint is an ongoing priority for Enterprise Ireland.

"We are committed to fostering regional economic development and supporting entrepreneurs all around the country. Companies like Megalift are economic cornerstones in their regions".
