The Artistic Director of the Galway Arts Festival has been recognised by the French government for services to culture.
Paul Fahy was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ambassador to Ireland, Vincent Guérend.
The French Embassy says the honour is in recognition of Mr Fahy’s "significant work in the arts" and for the promotion of France-Ireland relations.
French cultural organisations have been a regular fixture at the annual Arts Festival in Galway over many years.
The honour was bestowed on Mr Fahy, for work carried out in promoting the country’s artistic influence both here and around the world.
The Order of Arts and Letters was established by the French Government in 1957 and is given to foreign recipients who are adjudged to have help raise awareness of the country’s cultural output.
