Gardaí have seized 19 dogs during a search operation in Pallasgreen, Co Limerick.
The joint operation which involved gardaí from Bruff and Pallasgreen, along with personnel from Limerick City and County Council, took place around midday today.
Following an inspection by veterinary officials - the 19 dogs which included 15 Pit Bull Terriers, two Alsatians and two Rottweilers - were seized under Section 45 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013.
Gardaí say the dogs were taken to a shelter in the southern region where they are receiving care and medical attention.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
