Man dies following road crash in Co Limerick

A man has died following a crash involving a car and a van in Co Limerick.

The crash happened on the R513 between Garryspillane and Ballylanders Rd at around 6.15am.

The man in his 20s, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was brought to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place.

The driver of the van, aged in his 50s, was injured in the incident and was brought to Cork University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road from Garryspillane village to Ballylanders village is currently closed while a technical examination takes place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, especially those with dash-cam footage, who were travelling on the road at the time to contact them.
