Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating an incident on a farm in which a man in his 20s has died.
He has been named locally as Colie Kearney.
The incident occurred yesterday morning on a farm in Kilbeacanty near Gort in south Co Galway.
Gardaí said the man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to University Hospital Galway where a postmortem examination was due to take place.
The incident is the first workplace and farm fatality of 2023.
Last year 26 people died in workplace accidents and 12 of the fatalities were on farms.
