More than €33 million has been announced for the upgrade and development of centres used by communities around the country.
Under the Government's new Community Centre Investment Fund, which was opened earlier in the year, 278 facilities were awarded funding.
Grants of between €25,000 and €300,000 will be provided to the successful projects.
The money will be used to upgrade, renovate and refurbish community centres, parish halls, scout clubs, youth hubs, family resources centres and sports complexes.
It will cover development work including extensions to existing centres, energy retrofitting or upgrades to heating systems and essential maintenance.
The announcement was made by the Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys and Tánaiste Leo Varadkar at Hartstown Community Centre in west Dublin this morning.
Minister Humphreys said it is "going to help volunteers carry out essential repairs to their community centres, whether it's fixing the roof or whether it's upgrading the heating system or maybe even putting in a new kitchen."
She added that "whether it's urban or rural, there are many, many people benefiting today from this announcement."
