Love for Donegal is flooding social media today as the #LoveDonegal campaign gets under way.
The initiative by Donegal County Council won the Local Authority Members' Association or LAMA Awards last year for the 'best innovation for attracting inward investment' and it is already trending on Twitter.
The campaign reached over 17 million people across the world last year and had Donegal trending for several days.
Posting on Twitter and Instagram, the focus of this year's campaign is celebrating the art and creativity of Donegal with the council calling on people to showcase their love for Donegal creatively and posting on a huge variety of topics including Donegal's people, landscape, islands, culture, the Gaeltacht and businesses.
Today's the day! #LoveDonegal Day… It's the perfect place to live for a swim & walk before breakfast. Great people, beautiful landscapes, excellent #remoteworking & broadband service. #dúnnangallabú @Donegal_ie pic.twitter.com/eY3F2TNf42

Garry Martin, Director of Economic Development with Donegal County Council, said that #LoveDonegal day has been an important event in the calendar over the past few years.
He said it builds on the Donegal place brand initiative launched last year which showcases the opportunities for investment and the benefits of living and working in the county.
"We want more people to visit, invest or locate to Donegal as we highlight the benefits we have with our growing local economy and superb quality of life," he said.
