EnerMech creates 170 jobs at first Irish facility in Athlone

EnerMech, a mechanical and electrical services firm for the energy and infrastructure sectors, will create 170 jobs in Athlone over the next three years in an investment worth €9.2m.

The company is to open its first facility in Ireland, which will be based in IDA Ireland's Business and Technology Park in the town.

Welcoming the news, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Leo Varadkar said today's announcement underlines Ireland's growth as an international advanced manufacturing hub.

The company already employs 110 people including five local apprentices on the Pipefitting apprentice scheme.

EnerMech, which was set up in 2008 is headquartered in Aberdeen, has facilities across in 23 countries around the world including the US, Australia, India, China, Africa and South Africa.

"Our new facility opens a number of doors for us as we look to deliver more projects from this base as well as build on our existing work across a diverse mix of end markets," said Christian Brown, CEO at EnerMech.

The project is supported by the Government through IDA Ireland.
