Man dies after car hits tree in Co Wexford

A man in his 30s has died after the car he was travelling in hit a tree in Co Wexford last night.

This incident took place at Bargy Commons in Cleariestown at around 10.40pm.

The man, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Waterford General Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place at a later date.

The car driver - a man in his late 30s - was treated at the scene by ambulance personnel.

The R733 at Bargy Commons is closed in both directions, as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators conduct a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

A man in his 30s has been arrested in relation to the incident.
