Five closure orders were issued by the Food Safety Authority last month over issues such as rodent droppings and contamination in food preparation areas.
The FSAI said that closure orders were served on The Hudson Rooms at Liffey Valley, which included the ground floor bar and seating area and the ground floor kitchen area, first floor bar and a rear storage area to ensure the entire food operation there ceased.
Closure orders were also issued to Apache Pizza on Main Street, Blackrock in Dublin, and on the Roma Takeaway on Main Street, Portarlington, Co Laois.
Another closure order was served under EU regulations against Han Lin Palace in Balbriggan. The premises has been under new management since 18 June.
The FSAI said a lack of pest prevention and control with rodent droppings seen in some of the premises was among the reasons for the closures.
Inspectors also noted that food handlers were not clear regarding the use of protective clothing and headgear as well as a lack of understanding around contamination from jewellery when preparing food.
Personal items, such as a vape kit, car keys and mobile phones were stored directly above cooling food and there were also instances of inadequate handwashing facilities and undeclared allergen information.
FSAI Chief Executive Dr Pamela Byrne said it is unacceptable that staff are unaware of their responsibilities as food handlers.
She said: "Staff must be properly trained and/or supervised to ensure compliance with the legal requirements and attention must be paid to the basics of good handwashing, effective cleaning and proper storage of food."
