A coach driver and a number of his passengers have been injured in a collision between a tourist bus and a vehicle transporting a crane.

The crash happened at around 11.15am on the Cork/Kilgarvan road near Loo Bridge.

It is understood the crane, which was on the back of the truck, collided with a bus travelling in the opposite direction.

The bus driver sustained serious but non-life threatening injures and was taken to Cork University Hospital by the Irish Community Air Ambulance.

Up to 30 American tourists were on the bus at the time.

Eight of them sustained scratches and bruises and were treated at the scene.
