Farm research and advisory service Teagasc - which also runs educational courses at the country's agricultural colleges - has named Co Cork farmer Dave Moloney as its student of the year.

Mr Moloney, who runs the family beef farm, completed his studies in the Teagasc Education Centre in Macroom.

He is currently developing the animal housing and machinery aspects of the enterprise and was presented with his award by Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue earlier today.
