A crowd gathered in an Orange Hall in Co Down this evening for a rally in opposition to the Northern Ireland Protocol.

They are being addressed by DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson and Jim Allister of the TUV.

Prominent Brexiteers Kate Hoey and former Brexit Party MEP Ben Habib, who were parties to a legal challenge to the protocol last year, also attended.

Mr Donaldson said the people he engaged with were deeply concerned about the economic and constitutional impact of the protocol and predicted it would be an important issue in the upcoming assembly election.

Most media outlets were denied access to the meeting.

At several points applause could be heard coming from the hall.
