Three men arrested and €384k worth of cannabis seized following searches in Louth and Offaly

Gardaí today arrested three men and seized €384,000 worth of cannabis plants during a search operation led by the Louth Divisional Drug Unit.

The operation targeted the cultivation and manufacture of cannabis for onward sale, supply and distribution in Drogheda and the surrounding areas.

One search of a residence in Drogheda in Louth this morning led to the discovery of 80 fully mature cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €64,000.

A second search of a residence in Edenderry in Offaly resulted in the seizure of approximately 400 fully mature cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €320,000.

Three men, aged in their 20s, 30s and 40s, were arrested during the operation.

They are being detained at Drogheda and Balbriggan garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

This morning's search was conducted with assistance from the Drogheda Detective and Crime Units, Drogheda Community Action Team, Ardee Detective Unit, the Armed Support Unit and the Air Support Unit.

A garda statement added that investigations remain ongoing.
