The annual Michael Collins commemoration at Béal na Bláth in Co Cork is not taking place this year, the organising committee has said.
In a statement, the Chairperson of the Michael Collins Commemoration Committee said that due to the current restrictions around outdoor gatherings they "had no option but to take the decision not to proceed with this year's commemoration".
However, Minister Heather Humphreys will deliver a commemorative address online this Sunday, 22 August.
Ms Humphreys said it an honour to be asked to give the oration, and said she wanted to acknowledge the efforts of the commemoration committee who "worked hard to ensure that the event can be held remotely this year."
This year marks the 99th anniversary of Collins' death.
Garret Kelleher said the committee "very much look forward" to welcoming supporters and visitors to the centenary commemoration next year.
