President Michael D Higgins has paid tribute to former Irish Examiner journalist Donal Musgrave who has died.
The 78-year-old passed away in Cork after a long illness.
His career included time with the Irish Press, the Irish Times, the Sunday Tribune as well as the Irish Examiner.
President Higgins said in a statement that Donal Musgrave's work "spanned a range of titles that make up the history of Irish journalism".
He said: "Recognised as a mentor to many in journalism, he will be remembered for a professionalism that included a kindness and a deep concern for the issues on which he reported."
President Higgins offered his condolences to Donal’s wife Shirley, to their children Katie and Darragh and to his colleagues and friends.
