Mr Quinn has been remembered by colleagues as "an old school journalist" and a "gentleman" who was helpful and friendly to all who came across him over the years.
Despite suffering serious illness some years ago, he continued working for as long as he could, mainly covering the district and circuit courts in Waterford.
Offering his condolences on behalf of union colleagues, National Union of Journalists Irish Secretary Seamus Dooley described him as "a diligent, reliable and helpful colleague".
