The search for the holder of the winning ticket for €9.7m in last Saturday night's Lotto draw has narrowed after the National Lottery said that the ticket was sold at Daly's Supervalu store in Killarney, Co Kerry.

Given the current restrictions on travel to halt the spread of Covid-19, there is considerable speculation that the owner of the ticket is local.

The winning Quick Pick ticket jackpot was bought on the day of the draw.

The National Lottery said it has yet to hear from the owner of the ticket, which scooped Kerry's biggest ever Lotto jackpot.

A €500,000 Euromillions prize ticket was also bought at the same shop just four days earlier.

Speaking to RTÉ's Morning Ireland, Supervalu manager PJ McGee said that there is a "great buzz in the town".

He said that sales of Lotto tickets are likely to rise locally as "after today ... we will be hoping for three in a row".

Mr McGee said everyone is delighted for the people that have the winning numbers.

He said they are asking people to check their tickets.

Mr McGee said hopefully it is a syndicate winner and will spread the winnings to make life a bit easier for people "'when we get through this".

"There's a good atmosphere, instead of talking about the other thing, we're talking about that," he said.
