Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team has said the Sally Gap in Co Wicklow is impassable due to snowy and icy road conditions.
People are being advised to stay away from the area.
Gardaí and Mount Rescue teams have been working in the Sally Gap area to help motorists who have become stranded.
They have confirmed that a number of people have had to abandon their vehicles and were brought to safety in four-wheel-drive vehicles.
The incident on Sally Gap occurred after Met Éireann extended its snow and ice warning.
The status Yellow weather warning for all of Ireland is valid until 10am tomorrow, with scattered wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow forecast, especially on higher ground.
