A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Co Carlow.
The incident happened on the M9 motorway southbound at Junction 5 (Carlow).
The man, who was in his 50s, was driving a van that left the motorway and crashed into a speed barrier.
The man was treated at the scene of the incident and was brought to St Luke's General Hospital in Co Kilkenny but was pronounced dead a short time later.
The southbound lanes on the M9 are currently closed between Junction 4 (Castledermot) and Junction 6 (Carlow South).
Traffic is being diverted to Carlow town.
Garda forensic collision investigators have requested to examine the crash site and the local coroner has been notified.
