A legal dispute between two Sligo horse traders and the Department of Agriculture has been adjourned in hopes the matter will be resolved after a departmental inspection later this week.
Following the third day of evidence Judge Brendan O'Reilly, sitting at Sligo District Court, adjourned the hearing of an appeal taken by Felix and Edmund Burke against restrictions imposed by the Department of Agriculture until November 12.
The Department said its officers will visit the Burkes’ equine premises at Collooney, Co Sligo on Friday October 25 and will make a decision on the status of their horses by the end of next week, which could resolve the issue without the need for a further court hearing.
