Streaming service Neflix said it will start showing ads on its service here from next year.
The company said it is expanding its ads plan to 15 new countries, including Ireland.
The other countries include Austria, Belgium, Colombia, Denmark, Indonesia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and Thailand.
When asked by RTÉ how much would it cost to opt out from ads, Netflix said they "don't have any info to share yet about the new ad plan pricing."
Netflix's's current pricing plans range from €10.99 to €23.99 depending on the number of supported devices.
Netflix said ads service now reaches more than 250 million global monthly active viewers, including customers in the US and UK.
It said the move will give its customers more affordable plan options and advertisers more opportunities to reach its audience.
