Department store group Shaws has opened a new store in Clonmel in Co Tipperary - the 17th store in its network nationwide.

The new store is in the Showgrounds Shopping Centre in Clonmel and has created 20 jobs.

Shaws has stores in major regional towns, Limerick and in Dun Laoghaire in Co Dublin.

It said the opening of the Clonmel store represents another milestone in the growth of the more than 160 year old Irish retailer and reflects their confidence in Irish regional towns.

Conrad Digan, CEO of Shaws, said the new store in Clonmel is the company's second store in Co Tipperary and its 17th store in Ireland.

"The opening confirms our confidence in the retail potential of towns across Ireland, and it is another important step in our continued expansion. We truly value our loyal customer base across the country and are excited by the responses we have received from the greater Clonmel area since our announcement," he added.
