New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices dropped by 14.9% in February from January and were 23.3% lower than February last year.
The CSO said that wholesale electricity prices have fallen by 72.1% when compared with their peak in August 2022.
But the CSO noted that as these results are for February, they do not capture the impact of the recent events in the Middle East.
Today's figures also reveal that producer prices for food products declined by 0.7% since January 2026 and fell by 2.9% since February last year.
They also show that wholesale price inflation showed a decrease in February with a 1.1% decline in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries in the month.
