PTSB is to sell a number of pieces of art from its collection, with an estimated combined value of €50,000.
In a statement to RTÉ News the bank confirmed that, following a review of its collection, it decided that "several pieces" it held would be put up for sale.
"The bank has several pieces of art in its collection; some of importance and value and others which it has collected over the years, but which have no real significance for the bank to continue to hold, and which could find a more appreciative owner elsewhere," the bank said.
It said the proceeds would be donated to the bank's community fund, which supports different charities across the country. Other works in its collection which have a greater importance or value will be retained, it said.
It is understood that a total of 39 pieces from the bank's collection will be sold, with artwork including 'Landing the Catch' by James Humbert Craig and 'Spring Lissadell Woods' by TP Flanigan listed in an upcoming auction at Adam's Auctioneers on 25th March.
PTSB said that, in addition to the art that it will continue to hold, it will also continue to hold a range of historical items in its archive.
Established in 2022, the PTSB archive features documents relating to the bank's predecessors, including a minute book from 1818 connected to the School Street Savings Bank and a 1918 war bond from Cork Savings Bank.
