Co Cavan-headquartered renewable energy services and development business Galetech Group has committed to investing £3m (€3.5m) in the UK market over the next five years.

Galetech announced the five-year commitment as part of the second UK-Ireland summit held in Cork this week, which aims to strengthen economic ties between both countries.

The company already operates extensively in the UK renewable energy sector and through its investment in Northampton-based Adamas Wind, it provides monitoring and maintenance services for over 1 gigawatt (GW) of green energy projects.

It said this latest expansion strategy will target a scalable delivery footprint aligned to high-growth renewable corridors and grid reinforcement activity, with a regional focus on Scotland, the Northeast, and the Southwest of the UK.

As part of its expansion in the UK market, Galetech said it plans to will create up to 30 highly skilled roles by 2030 to scale its delivery capacity across the renewables value chain.

Darren Sherry, CEO at Galetech Group, said the new investment is very timely as the UK's connections reform programme is re-ordering and accelerating the grid queue.

"This will prioritise deliverable projects aligned with Clean Power 2030, creating immediate demand for partners who can reduce delivery friction across planning, engineering, compliance, commissioning and lifecycle optimisation," he said.

"Our investment will focus on supporting the scale of renewable energy infrastructure, improving and expediting lifecycle opportunities, and enhancing solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) momentum in Scotland, the Northeast and the Southwest. We are eager to commence this work and fulfil our commitments," he added.

Galetech employs more than 160 people across operations in Ireland, the UK and Africa.
