The Irish arm of premium coffee house business Caffé Nero is eyeing up new store openings here after brewing up a rise in revenues to €12.2m last year.

New accounts filed by Caffé Nero Ireland Ltd show that the company returned to a pre-tax profit of €187,000 in the 12 months to the end of May last.

The firm returned to a pre-tax profit after revenues increased marginally from €12.09m to €12.2m.

The directors state that "following a return to strong levels of sales, and signs of the easing of inflationary pressures experienced during the year the company is returning to its store growth schedule with a roll-out programme for FY26".

The directors state that there "are strong growth prospects in the branded coffee bar market in Ireland".

They state that during FY25 "the company experienced continued positive momentum which was improved by controlling costs despite continued cost pressures".

They add that the company enters FY26 "optimistic following a year of positive EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest Tax Depreciation and Amortisation) and continued sales growth".

The company expanded the number of outlets here last year with the opening of one new outlet to bring the total number of stores to 21.

The directors state that the company continued its store opening programme which held sales, however the impact of inflation on energy, food prices and wages meant that in FY25 the store profit measure decreased to €2.4m from €2.6m from FY24 representing a decrease of €200,000.

The firm's operating profits last year reduced by 32% from €850,000 to €580,000 however the firm benefited from lower interest payments last year of €393,000 compared to €861,000 in 2024.

This resulted in a pre-tax profit of €187,000 last year compared to a modest pre-tax loss of €11,000 in the prior year.

The operating profit last year takes account of combined non-cash depreciation and impairment costs of €2.03m.

The company recorded net cash flow from operating activities of €3.17m in 2025.

The increase in Caffé Nero outlets contributed to numbers employed rising from 180 to 200 with staff costs increasing from €3.99m to €4.23m.

Underlining the firm's ongoing expansion plans, the company last year paid out €1.38m to acquire property, plant and equipment last year.

Separate accounts lodged for the UK based Caffé Nero group show that it recorded operating profits of £32.3m last year as revenues rose by 13% to £587.6m.
