Kevin Foley, a former Chairman of the Labour Court, has been announced as the new Chairman of the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC).

The Department of Enterprise said the appointment follows an open recruitment process conducted by publicjobs, the Public Appointments Service.

Mr Foley's term will run for five years, from March 2026 to March 2031.

He will become the third person to hold the position of Chairperson since the WRC was established in October 2015.

Mr Foley was Chairman of the Labour Court from July 2016 until his retirement in March 2025.

He previously worked with the Labour Relations Commission, the predecessor of the WRC.

Minister of State for Employment, Small Business and Retail Alan Dillon said he was pleased to make the appointment.

"Kevin brings a wealth of experience in industrial relations, dispute resolution and public service, built over many years at the highest levels of the State's employment relations institutions," Mr Dillon said.

"His leadership will be invaluable as the WRC continues its vital work in promoting fair, compliant and productive workplaces across the economy."

Mr Dillon has also announced the appointment of Rachael Ryan to the board of the WRC.

Ms Ryan is the head of the Legal Rights Unit at SIPTU.
