Insulation and building materials maker Kingspan Group has reported a reduction of more than 2.8 million tonnes of CO₂e since 2020 across it facilities as it reaches the midpoint of its 2030 Planet Passionate targets.

Kingspan said the reduction is equivalent to over 7 million return flights between Ireland and France.

Launched in 2020, Kingspan's Planet Passionate global programme sets clear targets across four focus areas - carbon, energy, circularity and water to further support the transition to a net zero emissions built environment.

The company's sixth annual report today details the progress delivered across its global operations, supply chain and partnerships to date.

Highlights achieved last year include the using of 1.05 million tonnes of recycled and renewable raw materials in 2025 - about the weight of 584,415 cars.

Kingspan said that over 5 billion PET bottles were utilised in manufacturing processes since 2020, while 245 million litres of rainwater have been harvested since 2020, which it said is the equivalent to filling 1.63 million baths.

It also said that over 600 environmental sustainability projects have been delivered globally since 2020, including 180 completed in 2025.

As part of the continued decarbonisation of its existing operations, Kingspan said that renewable energy now accounts for 63% of total energy use across the group, with 61% of wholly owned sites equipped with solar PV systems.

Kingspan also increased procurement of lower embodied carbon materials by 30% last year compared to 2024, which is said supported the expansion of its Lower Embodied Carbon (LEC) product portfolio, which now comprises 35 solutions across multiple product categories.

Progress also continued across the Co Cavan-based company's supply chain decarbonisation journey and it signed four memoranda of understanding with lower embodied carbon steel suppliers across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, supporting the future availability of lower-carbon steel last year.

Holly Loughman, Head of Sustainability at Kingspan Group, said the reduction in GHG emissions across the company's value chain, the growth in renewable energy and the expansion of lower embodied carbon products demonstrate what can be achieved when ambitious targets are combined with innovation and collaboration.

"While we are delighted with the progress to date, our focus remains firmly on the work ahead. Planet Passionate is a long‑term commitment that supports our mission to accelerate a net zero emissions built environment, with people and planet at its heart," she added.
