AIB is investing a further €26m in its branches and EBS offices over the next two years, while it will also install 150 new cash and cheque lodgement machines nationwide.
The investment programme includes significant upgrades to six AIB branches and 32 EBS offices. AIB has 170 branches around the country and 66 EBS branches.
Two mobile community banking vehicles operating in the North West and South West will also be replaced.
AIB also today said the limit on the amount of cash that can be withdrawn at an AIB ATM has been increased from €600 to €1,000, to further support customers and communities with access to their cash when they need it.
Today's announcement builds on AIB's €40m investment in 127 branches last year, which included significant refurbishments and 60 new CCL machines.
It said that as part of its commitment to making branches and services as accessible as possible for all customers, AIB has also upgraded all ATM and CCL machines to provide increased functionality for people who are visually impaired.
AIB's Managing Director, Retail Banking, Geraldine Casey, said that while the bank continues to invest in innovative digital solutions for the convenience of its customers, it understands the vital role its 170 branches and 66 EBS offices play in supporting communities across Ireland.
"Our ongoing branch investment programme is a clear demonstration of our commitment to ensuring that customers have access to personal, face-to-face support and modern, warm and welcoming facilities in the heart of their towns and villages," she said.
"By enhancing our branch network, we are investing not just in technology, but in our customers and our communities, which matters most to us," she added.
