Uniformed state service workers from Dublin Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána, the Prison Service and the Defence Forces are launching a campaign today to highlight what they are describing as a "critical pension injustice".
The "Save Our Future" campaign meeting will see members and representatives from all four services tell of the financial hardship faced by personnel who retire after years of service.
According to organisers, workers who joined after 2012 receive only a fraction of their pension until state pension age, despite having a statutory earlier retirement age in these frontline roles.
SIPTU Organiser Geoff McAvoy said they are seeking the full restoration of the supplementary pension.
"Before the last General Election, promises to examine this issue were made, but these remain unfulfilled," Mr McAvoy said.
"This is an unacceptable slap in the face to thousands of dedicated frontline public service workers," he added.
