New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that wholesale electricity prices dropped by 11.7% in December from the previous month, while they were 20.9% lower than December 2024.

The CSO said the annual average price of electricity increased by 5.5% in 2025 compared with the 2024 average.

Today's figures also show that wholesale price inflation decreased in December with a 0.6% decline in the overall Producer Price Index for manufacturing industries.

The CSO noted that producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 0.8% higher in December compared with December 2024.

The CSO said that producer prices for food products increased by 1.7% in the 12 months to December.

Some of the biggest changes in producer prices for food products included an 11% increase in dairy products, as well as a 5.1% hike in fish and fish products, while vegetables and animal oils and fats sank 16.2%.
