Penneys has confirmed plans to open a new store in Cavan town.
The new Cavan store will be the retailer's 39th store in the Republic of Ireland.
Located in Cavan town's Main Street, the new store will occupy the existing Tesco site, which will move to a new location at Townparks.
Penneys said that while works have yet to start, it hopes to open the new store in Spring 2028.
Fintan Costello, Head of Penneys in Ireland and Northern Ireland, said the company was thrilled to finally confirm that Penneys is coming to Cavan.
"It's going to take some time but bear with us, we're really looking forward to bringing our range of great value clothing and accessories to our Cavan customers and supporting the local economy," he said.
"We'll be sharing more details in the months ahead, and we can't wait to open our doors to the people of Cavan," he added.
The store in Cavan is part of Primark's commitment to invest over €250m in Ireland over a ten-year period, which also includes the development, relocation and refurbishment of many of its existing stores across the country, including Penneys' stores in Portlaoise, Dooradoyle Limerick and Ennis later this year.
