SuperValu has announced price cuts on over 500 everyday essential product, saying the move will reinforce its commitment to helping customers nationwide manage the cost of living.

The retailer said the price cuts are designed to deliver real, tangible savings every time customers shop in-store or online and customers can now save up to €20 a week on the average shopping trolley.

SuperValu said it is cutting prices on items its shoppers buy most, from fresh fruit, veg, dairy and meat to nappies, pet food, firelighters, tea, coffee, orange juice, parma ham, soups, bin bags and biscuits.

"With household budgets under continued pressure, SuperValu is taking decisive action to make the weekly shop more affordable. This investment in value ensures that shoppers can stretch their money further, without compromising on quality or choice," the Musgrave-owned retailer said.

Luke Hanlon, Managing Director at SuperValu, said the chain understand that customers are feeling the pressure of rising costs.

"That's why we're taking real action - cutting prices on 500 everyday essentials to help make customers' weekly shop more affordable," Mr Hanlon said.

"Our goal is to deliver the value shoppers need, without compromising on quality, choice or the service they expect from SuperValu. These price cuts reflect our commitment to supporting shoppers and we invite them to experience these great savings in-store and online."

SuperValu said its latest price cuts, under the "Still Super, Now Better Value" initiative, are in addition to the 2,500 existing weekly offers currently available.
