A decline in tourists in 11 months of 2025 compared to 2024

Ireland saw a slight decrease in overseas visitors in the first 11 months of last year compared to the same period of 2024.

According to the latest figures by the Central Statistics Office, just under 5.9 million people visited the state from January to November 2025 - a decrease of 5% compared with just over 6.2 million for the same period in 2024.

In last November alone, some 460,300 tourists came to Ireland, which is 13% higher than in the same month of 2024.

On average, tourists stayed for 6.1 nights, down from 6.2 nights in November 2024 and 6.9 in the same month in 2023.

The amount of money visitors spent in Ireland was €347m - up 10% compared to the previous year, while the total spending in the first 11 months of last year amounted to just over €5 billion.

That is an 11% decrease compared to the estimated spend of €5.7 billion from January to November 2024.

Most visitors came from Great Britain (41%), while one third of all tourists travelled from continental Europe and one fifth from North America.
